Electoral Bond Details Made Public by Election Commission, Here is the Link to Check the Donation

Following a Supreme Court order, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has uploaded details regarding electoral bonds on its website. The data, provided by the State Bank of India (SBI) on March 12th, 2024, is available “as is where is” on the ECI website by visiting https://www.eci.gov.in/candidate-politicalparty

This move comes in compliance with directions issued by the Supreme Court on February 15th and March 11th, 2024 (WPC No. 880 of 2017). The ECI press release highlights that the commission has consistently advocated for transparency in electoral funding.

Electoral bonds were introduced in 2017 to offer anonymous donations to political parties. However, the lack of transparency surrounding these bonds has been a point of contention. This release of data marks a significant step towards greater public access to information on political party funding.
